Our stores - Le Château

We constantly are working towards reducing our store’s overall energy footprint. With that in mind, our stores are built and renovated with a high percentage of biodegradable and natural materials.

Flooring is either ceramic tile or marmoleum, which is a hypoallergenic linoleum sheet flooring from Europe and is made from all-natural products.

Our metal is powder coated, which is the most eco-friendly finishing process for metal, as opposed to stainless steel or chrome.

We specify only water-based paint finishes for our walls.

The vast majority of our lighting is energy-saving compact-florescent or florescent and our wattage use per square foot is medium to low comparative to industry standards.

Stores are encouraged to participate in all mall-coordinated recycling programs:

Reusable eco-chic bags: all profits from the sale of our $1 bags go to the David Suzuki Foundation.

In progress: We are currently exploring the option of making our plastic shopping bags, which are currently made out of recycled materials, biodegradable.
